2018-04-25 20:48:15

Here's when and how to plant blueberries:

1. Timing: Blueberry is a cold-loving fruit tree, suitable for planting in spring or fall. The best time to plant is usually in early spring or late autumn when the temperature is stable between 10-25 degrees Celsius.

2. Soil preparation: Blueberries like acidic soil, and the pH should be between 4.0-5.2. Choose soil with good drainage, you can add leaf rot soil or acidic organic matter to improve soil texture and acidity. Make sure the soil is rich in organic matter and has good water retention.

3. Planting Method: Blueberries can be grown from seeds or seedlings. The seeds need to be cold treated, which can be stored in the refrigerator for 2-3 months, and then planted at the right time. Seedlings are the more common planting method, and blueberry seedlings can be purchased at the right time for planting. When planting or transplanting seedlings, bury them into the soil at least at neck level and gently compact the soil.

4. Care and care: Blueberries need regular watering, which is especially important during the dry season and growing period. Keep the soil moist but not wet to avoid accumulating water. Covering the soil with grass MATS or fine wood chips can help keep the soil moist and prevent weeds from growing. Regularly remove dead, damaged, or densely packed branches to promote healthy growth of blueberry plants.

5. Harvest and preservation: Blueberries generally begin to bear fruit in the second to third year after planting. Blueberries can be picked manually after ripening, taking care not to damage the fruit. After harvesting, store blueberries in a cool, ventilated place, or refrigerate. Refrigeration can keep blueberries fresh for as long as possible. END
